About

What is the CHC?

With the ultimate aim of strengthening the Canadian humanitarian community, the Canadian Humanitarian Conference provides a platform for high-level engagement between NGOs, government, academics, private sector and other sector professionals to discuss key topics of interest around Canada’s contribution to humanitarian assistance.

Theme

“Canadians and the ‘agenda for humanity’: Strengthening our humanitarian community”. The World Humanitarian Summit (Istanbul, May 2016) and the new “agenda for humanity” have set the tone as we move forward to improve humanitarian action globally. The conference will examine how our Canadian humanitarian community is preparing, or should be, to meet new international trends, expectations and commitments.

Objective

With the ultimate aim of strengthening the Canadian humanitarian community, the 3rd edition of the CHC will be interactive and offer a unique opportunity for cross-sector engagement of civil society, business and government. We anticipate the attendance of 350 people and aim to inspire participants, foster meaningful relationships and to collaboratively set the agenda and vision for the future of Canadian humanitarian action.
